Heather Buchman is an American conductor and trombonist. She is an assistant professor of music at Hamilton College and conductor of both the Hamilton College orchestra and brass ensemble. She also oversees the chamber music program and teaches courses about 20th-century music and orchestration. She is the founder of the Orchestra's annual Brainstorm! concert, which explores the relationships between music and other subjects. Outside of Hamilton, she has conducted the Syracuse Society for New Music and guest conducted the U.S. Coast Guard brass section and Monarch Brass. ==Education== Buchman has an M.M in orchestral conducting from the University of Michigan and a B.M and performer's certificate from the Eastman School of Music, where she studied trombone under John Marcellus. She also studied conducting at the Juilliard School. Buchman has studied under Leonid Korchmar, Oleg Proskurnya, Murry Sidlin, Michael Jindo, and conducting under Otto Werner Mueller and Kenneth Kiesler.
